Free paint up for grabs as recycling scheme celebrates 20th anniversary

VOLUNTARY groups in need of a makeover can could win up to 20 litres of paint as part of a recycling scheme's 20th anniversary celebrations.

Community RePaint, which distributes unwanted paint to not-for-profit organisations, will celebrate two years of reusing paint between July 15 and July 21.

During the week, people popping in to the Community RePaint centre at Beeston Household Waste Recycling Centre will receive free decorating kits, containing a paint tray, roller and Community RePaint-branded paint brushes, along with car stickers and trolley tokens.

A competition with a prize of up to 20 free litres of paint for a project to improve the wellbeing of people or the appearance of places will also be running in store.

Martin Pearse, Community RePaint network manager, said: "Community RePaint offers a simple solution to the problem of waste paint.

"By re-using it in our communities and within families on low incomes, we can bring a splash of colour to the lives of those who need it most, and help to protect the environment by preventing perfectly good paint from ending up in landfill."
