Sims Recycling achieves ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 certification in its first ...

SRS FZE's quality management systems have now been approved to ISO 9001:2008 standards that underline core management principles including strong customer focus, motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement for its people, customers and operational processes. ISO 140001:2004 covers Environmental Management Systems and Processes, and forms the core of its Global E-Waste Certification process. Finally, demonstrating its commitment to the well-being of the employees, SRS achieved ISO 18001:2007 Certification that covers Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and Processes.

Philip Hughes, Managing Director SRS FZE, said, "Gaining one level of ISO Certification in its first year of operations is a significant achievement for any company, but to achieve full certification in three separate areas is an outstanding effort by our operations team especially as this relates directly to the provision of environmental processing of waste electrical & electronic equipment which is such a new field in this region."

SRS FZE's entire focus is in providing Compliant Solutions to manage the End of Life of Electrical & Electronic Products in the Middle East Region. Hughes continued, "Whilst we have been visibly active in the marketplace discussing electronic waste and recycling solutions, behind the scenes we have had a hard working team of dedicated managers and engineers designing and implementing the processes and systems that are needed to back up that market offering."

To implement the processes and systems and achieve the certifications, SRS FZE took a little over 12 months to design the factory including hundreds of hours of liaison with the SRS teams in Europe, to ensure that the processes implemented met the exacting standards of the relevant Jebel Ali, Dubai and UAE Authorities.

"The hours of training, and the impact of these needs on every aspect of our company "DNA" has been as critical for us as any outward facing business growth," added Hughes. "The key task for the team at SRS now is to take this hard work and educate the market why they need to introduce their own compliant solutions for End of Life Management."

SRS FZE are now in a position to educate and help vendors and their channel partners educate IT managers and CIOs in the enterprise sector on managing compliant solutions for End of Life Management for electrical and electronic systems.
